| Matt Simms denies rumors
Despite widespread rumors to the contrary, University of Louisville quarterback recruit Matt Simms told The Courier-Journal he still plans on being a Cardinal.
The U.S. Army All-American committed to U of L in August and confirmed to the newspaper in a 7 o’clock phone interview on Saturday “nothing has changed.”
Word of Matt Simms’ possible decommitment swirled around Freedom Hall during the Louisville-Kentucky basketball game and was also on several Internet sites. But the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Matt Simms said there was nothing it.
“There were a lot of rumors going around but nothing at all has changed,” Matt Simms said in the interview.
Matt Simms, the son of former Southern High School and NFL standout quarterback Phil Simms, said he would make an official visit to U of L in the coming weeks.
“Right now, the next couple of weeks are dead weeks (for recruiting),” Matt Simms said. “But after that I plan on visiting one weekend.”
He said he would sign with U of L in February.
During his senior season at Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep, Matt Simms helped lead his team to a New Jersey Group IV non-public school state championship. |
